Hello all  ;D

Is there any problem to use C= 1084s turned on its side to play vertical shooting games for long periods of time ? i played a lot of Final Star Force (jamma pcb)  this weekend but i'm a bit worried if the monitor could be damaged...

I used to do this all the time with my 1084s.  The only thing you need to watch for is the magnetic field.  Rotating it while it's on or while it's warm will probably (but not always) cause discolouration.  The monitor will de-gauss itself, canceling out these changes in the magnetic field, but only when it's turned on while cold.

So, leave it off for half an hour when you rotate it.  You might not need to do this, smaller monitors don't suffer the effect as much.

Also, as a general precautionary note, monitors are designed to sit flat.  Your 1084s will be slightly more fragile when it's tilted, but it's not a large or heavy enough device to really be a problem.

thanks Lawrence  ;D

I rotated it when turned on and no problem with picture and magnetic field  :)
but next time i'll do it with the monitor turned off

fortunately  i have an old degausing coil to do the degauss "dance" in case of discoloration :P
