Hi

this is my first post so... "hi"  :D ,ive been wanting to make a nes usb gamepad, now after countless forum posts on other forums,i either got smart ass remarks or just answers like "use google" yes ive been down that road alot an finally found a forum dedicated to this!!!!!!!!!!!11

so happy right now.

anyways i want to make a nes pad to a usb,now ive got countless amounts of usb pc gamepads (well 10) just lying around. now i was thinking taking a usb pcb board from the pc controller to fit inside my nes controller. now ive seen one guy on youtube do it with a snes controller, his camera was terrible.

anyways he said he just tansfered it over to the snes housing case,so i was wondering on basically how i would go about,i know about the pic microcontroller method but tbh, thats out of range atm, since the only thing ive done is put some blue led's in a xbox, you have to start somehwere

so if theres any wisdom, guidance or tutorials can you help me out

thanks

Moving the entire PCB from a USB pad to a NES one is not feasible in all but a few cases. What you need to do is to transplant the encoder chip in the pad. You need to remove the one in the NES pad and replace it with the one from the USB pad.

In order to do that you must figure out what the pins on the chip in the USB pad does and then wire the thing up properly.

Here is a link to a modding guide on a page called mmmonkey. This guide is for making a NES pad work on a PC-Engine console instead of a computer but otherwise it is almost the exact thing you want to do. It should be useful as a reference point.
