SNES pad on serial port

Ok so here's the deal, I modified one of my SNES pads way back to use my Parallel port on my PC.
Now, with my new PC I no longer have a parallel port, only serial ports.

Can I move this thing to a Db-9 on the serial port with ease? Does anyone have any diagrams for such?

Nevermind, judging by the drivers I've been using thus far, and others available there is no support for I/O addresses outside those of Parallel spec.

It's all good though, I found a Parallel to USB adapter for cheap.

Back to this again, I never bothered buying that adapter. The cost of doing so seemed stupid for just an SNES pad (I have USB adapters for the other pads I wish to use).

Can anyone tell me if this is possible? Again, I only have 1 RS232 DB9 port to work with. The only issue I can see, is getting a driver that will use the right port address.
PSXPad allows me to select an I/O address, but I'm not sure if I can select one for my COM port (Disabled to free resources it would have allocated otherwise right now) or change the I/O address for. I'm not even going to try if the wiring itself isn't possible to begin with.

I dunno if this is a viable option for your particular driver, but Targus makes what they call a laptop port replicator. It's really just a USB hub with a serial, parallel, and joystick port (and most models have a couple of USB connectors too.) Some parallel drivers don't like the parallel-to-USB connections because of the lack of direct hardware access.

Hmm I'd never heard of that, might have to look into it. I was recently looking for a Gameport adapter as well, because I refuse to buy a new flight stick just because I no longer have a gameport on my PC. (I'm quite fond of the one I have, it works so well)

If I can get one of these cheap, I may just give up the aforementioned idea.

Thanks kendrick.

This is an example of the thing I was thinking of. This one in particular doesn't have a gameport on it. Also, it's out of stock at Amazon. I'm sure you can find something equivalent somewhere:

Googled and searched Ebay, and I'm pretty sure this is out of the question. For a port replicator that has what I'd want, I'm looking at $70 or more. (There are some that are over $250) 200% out of the question.

The only ones you can get cheaper than that, are designed for a specific notebook in mind, and are essentially docking stations without drive bays.

PCI Parallel Port Adapter for you parallel port SNES controller:

As far as game ports go, you could purchase a sound card with a game port on it (especially if you're using onboard audio)  ???

My main PCI has onboard 7 channel HD audio, I surely wouldn't spend money just for a gameport.........though I could use one, my cherished flight stick is gameport.

I decided I'm just going to forget about using these homemade solutions on my main PC, and play my SNES games etc on the arcade cabinet. It has a parallel port and gameport etc.......I think (New computer in there as of last week)

I'm actually going to build a box with parallel OUT and 2-4 DB9 serial ports IN. Next thread! lol
