Does anyone ever thought about RGB'ing the good ole Commie 64 ??

If I recall correctly, the Commodore natively produces only luma and chroma. Producing RGB output would be possible only with an additional circuit and wouldn't gain you any quality. S-video is probably the best you can get without adding components.

Sounds right to me.  I built a Commodore 64 S-Video adapter earlier this year, found the schematics, and came to the realization that RGB isn't possible, only Y/C (similar to how the NES PPU only outputs composite video).  Unlike the NES though, I'm not aware of the existence of an RGB capable C64 chip, nor do I believe that one does. :P

While RGB on the ole C64 would be nice, it would unfortunatly break one or two gfx effects used by the more modern demos and games that rely on how PAL colour works.  (Some info on this Here.)
