guitar hero xbox 360 controller wiring?

hey all, im trying to make a return to the community after neglecting my games for months..

ok, i just bought guitar hero 3 for xbox 360, and i've decided having only one gutar is a very lame idea.
now, straight away, the dead ps2 guitar hero controller in my shed came to mind..
most of the time peripherals like this are just regular controllers in a fancy case with some fancy wiring. for example when building my pop'n music controller, i had to solder over the contacts for dpad left, down, and right on the psx controller pcb. because this is impossible to press on a regular controller the game knows it has to be a dedicated controller plugged in, and remaps the buttons accordingly.

now, this is also the case with the old ps2 guitar hero controllers (though i dont know the directions that are held).. i am really very much hoping that the same thing is going to apply with the xbox 360 guitar.

can anyone help me out with info on this?
