X-RGB2: fix or replace?

I think I may have broken my X-RGB2 plus by using ambigiously labeled cables from Lik-Sang. I naively assumed these cables were 21 pin jap rgb, because I had always wrongly referred to all jap 21 pin cables as RGB and all pal region 21 pin rgb connectors as scart.

Anyway, using a scart (21 pin rgb wired for pal region) cable on an X-RGB2 can damage it and it did just that. The x-rgb2 still works, however after about 15 to 30 minutes the screen goes black. The unit still has power and sound can still be heard.

I just recently replaced the VGA monitor I was playing on thinking that was the problem and it still does not work, so I know the monitor is not to blame. Can this problem be fixed, or would I be better off getting a new X-RGB2? Is this even possible? I've not seen one for sale for several months.

Thanks!

I just had a look at the jap 12 RGB connector pinout and I don't think it's possible to do any damage by plugging a SCART device into it. The only pin you have to watch out for is pin 8, which often has 5 or 12 volts connected to it. It's listed as not conected on the JRGB pinout.

Not sure about what's on the inside of an XRGB2+, but NCS does not warrant the units that they sell--apparently they have had a lot of people try to return them after blowing the things out with SCART cables, and it's been enough of a problem for them to toss in a warning sticker with every XRGB2+ sold.
