Hi,

Long time no post, so here goes. Is it possible to remove the green screen nonsense from v9 PS2 without the use of a chip? Now that the warranty has expired, I had a fun time dissecting the beast (was more like a nightmare really).

Go search the RGB forum for posts from RARusk. He's played with his PS2 in an attempt to discover where the sync is added to the green line. He had some difficulty with it for a time but the way I remember it he got a perfect solution ultimately.

Darkman,
I believe the green screen effect if caused by there being sync on the green video signal (at least that what RARusk reckoned and he seems to know what he's on about). I 'fixed' my PS2 so it doesn't do the green screen thing anymore so I haven't been able to verify it myself.

Anyway, here's a circuit to remove sync from a video signal. I designed it as part of I collection of sync related circuits (which i'll publish as a webpage when I get around to it). It's got a few small problems but it works fairly well considering it's simplicity.

Thanks for the info guys. Viletim, your circuit will definitely be of use for me, just not this time. After reading RARusks posts, I decided not to hack my only PS2. If it gets borked, getting a new unit will be troublesome, especially when no gaming gear is officially supported where I come from. A new PS2 would cost me ~$250(ouch).
