Hello, it's my 1st post here. Still, i'm always checking the posts of you guys.

I want to put a Sega Genesis controller to my LPT port (as I don't know how to make a USB adaptor).
I did the adaptor, like the instructions on DirectPad website, but it doesn't work, as my parallel chipset is not old.

Anyway, I found (if this is old news, sorry) a alternative diagram to use the Sega Genesis Gamepad on the parallel port, it's on a pdf file inside this zip:

ftp://ftp.radio.ru/pub/2003/12/dpadpr60.zip

It's from a 2003 edition of a russiam magazine, "Radio Magazine". You must use Directpad Pro 6 (it's on the zip file too)

I coudn't do it yet, I can't find the transistor, it's impossible!! lol

Any of you guys did that? I wonder if it works...

IMPORTANT
transistor KT315 (russian code) corresponds to BC146 (western code).
diodes are 1N5819

Cheers guys!

blah

directpadpro has been discontinued for some time, try looking into PPJoy:
http://www.geocities.com/deonvdw/PPJoy.htm
-assuming you are using it for a Windows system that is.

personaly i found my 6button pad dodgy under direct pad driver, but it works fine with ppjoy and i didnt have to rebuild the interface either. no transistors in my 6button interface

Yes, and directpad pro doesnt work on NT\XP

Ok guys, but the old interface (picture) doesn't work with parallel ports of the newest PCs. That's the problem.
I've done it, UP and DOWN doesn't work..

The problem has nothing to do with how "modern" your pc is, it is because parallel ports are mainly for printers so standards arent so strictly enforced. Many companys like compaq have made their parallel ports behave differently for functions of their own printer. I am glad you got it working though. Did you draw those yourself? Pretty nice.

I haven't draw it... it's from PPJoy and Directpad website.
The interface works, but only on a few old parallel ports (an ISA chipset and a 486 pc for example).
"Modern" or not, it doesn't work on most Pentium 1 or + PCs. :(
Only Left - Right and A works.
Maybe i'll forget about it and buy a USB adaptor in Retrozone.

Adeptus

May depend on what mode your LPT port is set for - SPP, EPP, ECP, etc...
Does the DPad / PPJoy doco specify what mode(s) to use?

atom

That may be true adeptus, I know that certain output pins become input pins in different modes however I couldn't possible recall which ones. The PPJOY driver or whatever he uses would\should set that...

Thank you so much!
I'll make me an adaptor with this interface.

But, if it's uncompatible with directPad, which software should I use in Windows 98?

Thanks again!

phreak97

that site contains versions of ntpad for win9x aswel as xp

Quotethat site contains versions of ntpad for win9x aswel as xp
There is only this one for download:

http://ntpad.yi.org/dist/ntpadxp2.01.exe

It's for XP, but also works with win 9X?
(didin't test it yet, I'll buid the adaptor first)

Thx :)

i only looked at the site quickly, i saw the win9x/me link and assumed it was ntpad. it is actually a link to dpadpro, and that configuration is incompatable with dpadpro. im not sure what you should do for the drivers in that case... ill look around for you later when i have more time

PPJ works the best on on NT/XP , even on new chipsets and all

I always had this laggy response time with NTPad , I just assumed it was VIA at work (since my soundcard didnt work with it) but on my old dell I ran NTPad , and DirectPadPRo on Win98 (when I was dual booting with 98) , I came accros PPJ and it worked like a charm

EDIT - I had teh same problem on a Dell laptop , PPJ Fixed that

I use Genesis (old non 2p schematics too) , 5 SNES MultiTap , PS2 , and bunch more , and I must say PPJ delivers

Parallel Port Project = PPJ

Apparently at This site

But if you wana try it I can upload it somewhere
