when i increase this value
on some games it speeds things up only until the game starts but game plays normally
on other games it makes the game speed up as well.
best to just leave this on 10?

10mHz should provide the best compatibility. However, there are some games like Mahou Daisakusen which benefit from a faster processor. In most cases faster processor means faster loading times but in some rare cases the games become unplayable because they run too fast.
