I have been trying to add the extra characters, stages and other assets to the game SFXVI.

What I have tried, is open the hdf with disk explorer and simply add characters and stages to the contents of the hdf. When I run the game, it does not see any new assets.
Can someone with knowledge of this game, please guide me through the correct process?
Or even better - is there a version of this game with everything already installed?
