Title: The forum was upgraded!
Post by: NFG on September 02, 2012, 02:06:36 PM
I upgraded the forums yesterday to SMF v2, something I've been sort of wanting to do for a while.  It was finally worthwhile when a modification I wanted turned out not to work on the old forum version.

The upshot for you guys is that now everything's the same but with a new skin (you like?) and I've banned all new registrations from China, which should cut down our spam problem to zero, until they figure out a way to get around it (again).

As far as I know we lost no posts or functionality, but - as always - if you notice something amiss, let me know.

Also yay Kendrick, our hard working mod, for nuking so much of the old Chinese spam before most of us ever saw it.  Yay!

 Hi Lawrence !

The new forum skin looks good. I have noticed that the X68000 section in the forum does not work. Web browser churns out "Unable to load the 'main_above' template." upon accessing. Tried it with Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. Strangely I have lost access to editing the Wiki. My user name and password is no longer accepted. Help ?

Keep the scene alive !

Yeah, I don't know why but it reset the X68 theme to the default for me and I was able to view it fine, while no one else could.  I've changed the theme and it should work fine now.

As for the wiki, I'm sort of surprised that this happened, I'll look into it ASAP.  Sorry about that!

OK, fixed it.  The columns in the DB had changed names slightly, a bit of search/replace and we're away.  Let me know if I overlooked anything, or broke anything else.  =D

Could you modify either the 'New Post' or 'No New Post' icon? A little more contrast between the two would be nice.

Done!

I might tweak it later, but it should be more noticeable now.

The XRGB mod page/discussion links to a post on the old forum for a fix.  The link fails unless you modify the link address manually to say "forum2."  The picture that was supposed to be in that post is gone.

Also (and this might be on purpose), you can't add anything to that thread.

What's the link to the working post, so I can fix the broken link?

Also, we often close old threads, spammers target them as a matter of course.  I can re-open it if it's necessary.  =)
