Title: does a famicom ppu have the same pinout as a new ppu?
Post by: Drakon on August 16, 2010, 03:30:54 PM
hey I recently got my hands on a playchoice board and I was thinking of rgb modding my av famicom.  I was just curious if it's possible to use the pc10 ppu in that system or if it would have a different pinout

it should have the same ppu as a nes, so the mod should be the same.

thanks a lot!  I wound up doing this mod on a NES and it works great however the screen has big jailbars on it and I'm desperately trying to figure out how to reduce or remove them

Jailbars ? I suppose they come from the incredibly long wiring you used on the board for the digital signals .... >_<

You should solder the socket on the NES mainboard and keep the digital connections as short as possible. The jailbars effect comes from video ROM/RAM data bus interference on the RGB lines.
