I have discovered that the 68010 will work with *most* Sega Genesis/Mega Drive games. Nice little speed boost, especially with the addition of instruction cache.

Hey thats pretty sweet, I love the little mods you do.
thats pretty sweet i might buy a couple for my sega cd!
thanks :)
BTW, the sega CD/ Genesis 2 uses the 68-pin surface mount style of CPU. These are even more difficult to find, and EVEN MORE difficult to solder!

ive messed around with swaping chips in both models and never had that much success. especially when it comes to the rgb encoder chip and the sound chips. i remember i tried swaping out the rgb encoder chip with a newer one from a psx...i got a picture but it was pretty terrible. im wondering if you have tried swaping any of the other chips on the board with a newer counterpart...im most interested in that yamaha sound chip and the rgb encoder...
Yeah, i dont think ill be performing this mod anytime soon seeing as how my genesis has triple processors anyways.
to give a heads up to everyone there is one of these chips on ebay right now at 99 cents.
I wonder if i took my appleIIgs processor and used it on my snes what would happen. Hmmm, actually it might be the snes version thats more powerful.
ok... maybe a faster powerpc processor for the gamecube?
ive seen upgraded xbox cpu's, more ram too.
The SNES CPU is actually a Nintendo-hacked 65c816.....a VERY hacked 65c816! The SNES's cpu contains some video processing hardware along with the 65c816 core....very strange chip.

P.S. The SNES CPU can be seen as my aviator ;)
Oh, haha... i thought that was the ppu! The ppu is the real wonder of the snes, what a beast for its time.

While you get bonus points for spelling Aviator right, you meant to say Avatar. ;)
