Title: Does battery charge in standby mode?
Post by: spud on November 27, 2025, 06:51:07 PM
My ACE battery has run out of charge. I know I should consider using something else than the barrel battery, but at least it is a "recent" one (7 years old or something), that replaced the original. And I know I will have to set the SRAM settings again, fortunately I have a system disk.

My question: will the battery charge again simply by hooking the machine up to a power socket and keeping it in "soft off (red LED)" mode, or does it only charge when fully powered on (green LED)? I'm a bit hesitant keeping the machine fully powered on for a longer period of time.

Looking at cz-600 schematics (i never found the schematics for the ACE) the battery is re-charged by VCC2, the +5VSB line, so it's charged even when red led is on
