Title: Cyberblock Metal Orange EX - Trying to use mouse scroll wheel?
Post by: bobrocks95 on September 07, 2025, 03:34:50 AM
Cross-posting this to the software board just in case!  Mods feel free to delete one if necessary.

Bought Beep's reprint of Cyberblock Metal Orange EX plus this mouse adapter from them- https://channel.beep-shop.com/products/detail/48665 (https://channel.beep-shop.com/products/detail/48665)

The game has an option in the menu for Digital/Analog control, and switching to Analog allows you to use the mouse to (kind of poorly) navigate the menus by sliding it left and right.  The manual for the game shows analog mode as sliding the mouse left and right as controlling your ship.

However, once I start the game, the control for the ship is mapped, very slowly, to the mouse's scroll wheel.  Nothing I'm seeing anywhere indicates that control should be on the scroll wheel for this game.

So two angles to approach things from I think:

It works as you would expect with the older usb mouse adapter connected to the x68000z mouse.  Moving the mouse left and right moves the ship.

Thanks! Didn't get an email notification for this.  Guess I should try another mouse with this adapter first?  I only have two of the same Razer brand mice to try out, maybe I need an older one.

Which older USB adapter are you referring to?

It was one of those. The previous model from classic PC.

By the way, I just tried one of the new round ones, and the game still works properly with two different mice for me, including a modern Corsair mouse, so I don't think the adapter is to blame.

Try other mice, perhaps?

Ah, cool, I've seen that one around and didn't know it was actually the same group/company.  Thanks for the report on the v4 circular version, sounds like it's definitely the Razer mice that are the issue, maybe they internally map the mouse wheel to a non-standard input axis or something.
