Can anyone who has a working x68000 (ideally an original model) and can compare the behavior of my system to yours let me know what's supposed to happen when you power on and insert a floppy, and tell me where my system is deviating from that norm? I'm stumped trying to repair these floppy drives!

Forgot to mention in the video that if I'm connected to a monitor, the system boots to the "Could not boot from disk" error screen, and when I insert a floppy, the screen goes black and hangs there indefinitely. Both drives behave the same way. Thanks!
First of ll, does the X68000 boot to the prompt disk screen? If not, please, post a picture of the error you get.
Also, the simultaneous blinking of both drives is not normal, only drive '0' must blink at boot when no disk is inserted.
Keep in mind that X68000 machines can successfully boot only if both drives are working (I mean electronically working, not mechanically) otherwise you will get a black screen or error screen.
But if you remove the drives by disconnecting them from ribbon cable you should get the prompt disk screen anyway. So, please, try to disconnect them from ribbon cables.
Sorry, but looking at your video, both drive appear to be set to the same ID, Jumpers are Identical.
One drive must be 0 and the other 1.
Mine are currently set , Xiii Xiii and the other is iXii and ixii.. yours both appear to be Xiii Xiii.
