While dumpster-diving for computer parts, I found a still-shrinkwrapped plastic box thing with a DIN cable coming out of it. It has mostly Japanese writing on it, but you can make out "PC-98" and "RGB" in several places . Anyone have any idea what it might be for? Here's some pictures of the label:

Pictures of the device would help more. Also the 2nd link doesn't work for me.
The first one says "digital RGB" so right off the bat I'm gonna suggest it's probably a useless thing.
Thats a japanese computer made by NEC from around the amiga days I believe but I know next to nothing about the computer....supposably a good collection of games for it though, and debian and freebsd have appararently been ported it to it.As for RGB i have no idea but most likely it will take 15khz rgb....or 31khz vga if not.
Fixed the 2nd link. Here's 3 REALLY crappy photos (sorry, only digital camera I own is that Sony thing that uses floppies).

I personally wouldn't blame you if you couldn't identify it. It just seems a shame to throw it away since it was obviously never used.
Dont throw it away then...
Sell it if you dont want it.
remember somewhere in the world there is probobly someone thats looking for one.
my guess is this is digital RGB cable for NEC PC-9801/FC-9801 personal computers.
NEC made PC-9801 and later it evolved to be PC-AT compatible...
Not sure why the cable is attached to that box though...
cheers
