@arananet Thanks for making these! I got one in the last batch, glad to see more options out there for people. Any plans for the pi-midi expansion board for it? Looking forward to that when it is available.

I'd like to order one but I have a question, has the newer version been tested on a higher clock speed X68000, like the X68030 or a Compact Red Zone?

I have a 24mhz modded Compact and I just want to be sure MIDI will work.

Thanks!

Yes, soon will launch a pre-order for the pimidi expansion.

Yes, we modify the firmware and latest version is compatible with higher clock (standard).

Hi Arananet, i ordered the  30th one of previous batch, and waiting it arrive home.
From what I read, it works only on 2mb machines, i wonder if there's a plan to add a switch or something so for compatibility with 1mb X68k, like the Galpanic's v.1.2 expansion?
Thank you again for your masterpiece!

Etarikashikoshi arrived yesterday and it works flawless on the ACE HD where i installed it!
Tested ram with Memtest68K and MIDI audio (since now only in few games) and all went fine.
It's cheaper than other RAM + Midi combo i bought, and i love the faceplate included.
Waiting for the Pi-midi expansion add-on, i think it could be the icing on the cake.
Definitively reccommended!

The only thing not clear to me is how to use the "usb-like" connector Pi-MIDI port: the manual say it's for Pi-Midi devices, i use a Bulky Midi-32 based on MT32-Pi and i have only Midi Din connectors.
Anyone is using that port and could give some more info?

Can anyone help a noob like me understand the IRQ/ACK jumper settings?

The manual says "set the IRQ and ACK configuration based on your X68000 computer".

Where would I find this information? Does this have to do with slot?

Expert model, in case it matters.

Thanks in advance :)

You have four possible positions available, but if you have no other devices installed, IRQ 2 / ACK 2 is fine.

I assumed as much, but wasn't sure if there was some quirk that was completely flying over my head.

I won't be able to test this card out for a week or more. I'll share an update then.

Thank you very much.

One additional question, since I can't find any mention of this anywhere online...

Does this board support the dual use of a device through the DIN as well as USB?

I was considering an MT-32 Pi alongside a real SC-55 MkII.

There is no information from the manufacturer regarding the simultaneous use of connected MIDI devices.

Regarding the use of the Etarikashikoshi USB, it is for the exclusive use of PI-MIDI - MT32 emulator.

The only information can be found here:
https://www.arananet.net/pedidos/product/pi-midi-1-3-a-baremetal-mt32-emulator-using-raspberry-pi

Raspberry Pi is not included, you will need to purchase it separately and check the list of compatible models.

My advice is to only use the Roland SC-55 MkII, which emulates the MT-32.

To enter emulation mode you must:
With the device turned off, hold down the Power + ALL button at the same time, a message will appear, confirm with the right PART button.

The only game with poor compatibility is Super Hang-On, which reproduces the guitar effects differently.
