Title: CD-ROM install question
Post by: incrediblehark on February 17, 2024, 02:59:02 PM
I'm finally getting into the world of PC-98 (need to hear those OPNA soundtracks in person!) with a PC-9801 BX3/U2 on its way to my door. I'd like to add a CD-ROM drive to the empty 5.25" bay and was wondering with this particular model should I be looking for something specific? Are these standard IDE drives or something proprietary, or is it more dependent on available drivers? Any info is appreciated. I'm very new to this line of computers but I am a quick learner.

That model uses the "file bay" standard. Drivers will be different depending on what model drive you get. Look up which one yours needs, or just try them all until one works.
