Hello,
Can't load my Kyukyoku tiger game. Stuck on the TownsOS Version 1.1 level 30 screen. Nothing more after...
Need help please.
Thanks very much
It's your rip.
I had the same issue with Marty + docBrown. I had to change which rip I was using. Me and one person confirmed we had an issue, asked Deunan and he said his copy worked fine and likely our rip.
So I changed the rip and it worked. I can't remember if I used neokobe or not.
My rip comes from Neo kobe repack (archive.org). Works well on pc with emulator.
Tested 3 differents rips.... not working.
Very strange .... And it's my favorite game...sadly
It seems that this game is not compatible with thr Fm towns HR model..!!??
I think the tiger copy on NK has bad MP3. I would see if there is redump copy and burn that on a low speed and try it again.
Do you still have a good dump? Perhaps you could put it on a cloud for download? Or a valid link... thx
I just test the game on another fmtown ( 20f) but it's also not working!
So i need to find a good dump.
Do you know a place where i can find it?
Thanks

I bought this game for $673 recently. It will be dumped properly soon. Dont worry.
I use the NK rip too and i have 2 CX20. On one it works while the other hangs in the TownsOS Version 1.1 level 30 screen. On this CX20 the Laser isn“t good as the first one.
Here is CCD rip directly from disc.

Later it will be redumped but I just don't have plexor drive yet
Thank you very much Cyothevile. I will test your CCD rip.

So some Towns have this bug. It's reported that my own CX20 hangs on townsOS screen and also Marty1 (not marty2) will hang. It runs fine on EA fresh and HR100.
There are other CD games I've found that have game bugs. Allegedly with ODE on tower model it runs fine and the race condition is corrected.
Which model are you using?
Your CX20 hangs with the original game or only backup ?
Original.
It seems that the quality of the laser in the CD Drive could be the problem.
On my 1. CX20 the Neokobe Rip runs fine.
Tested but sadly, the backup isn't working....

Is it stuck in TOWNSOS load screen?
Try to get the game to get to TownsOS screen and then press the reset button on the computer.

Yes stuck in TOWNOS screen. Ok i will test the reset button. Speak soon...
Not working, even after resetting the computer...no luck!
It's a game bug.
Marty 1 with ODE has the problem.
CX20 has the problem but with ODE there isn't a problem.
My HR100 it doesn't have it. Maybe it's 386 bug?
Very strange. I ve tested with my FMT 2 HR with a 486 cpu....
You own a ODE for the CX20?
I got 2 CX20 on my better cx20 the game works, one the other not.
Hello guys. I got this error years ago, but I solved it by loading SplatterHouse before, then reset and load Kyuukyoku Tiger. It works for me. ( FM-TOWNS 20F )
IT never has this problem in FMV-TOWNS.
Tell me if it worked for you.

Yes, it works for me on Marty, thanks!
I tried:
HR Works OK with CD ROM External. (no internal cd rom available)
2F Works OK with CD ROM internal.
F20 not Works, with Internal and External CD ROM drive.
Works perfect F20 with swap disk Splatter House, Great PEP
I've heard many people have issues booting this game on the Marty, so I wanted to chime in just to share that my Marty 1 does not require any workaround, like first booting Splatterhouse, in order for it to work. I'm using a DocBrown v2.
Info from Almanac menu, in case any of it is meaningful (I assume chipsets and console variants would be more meaningful than these datapoints, but I'm sharing this info anyway):
FM TOWNS Marty (74)
Serial no: 000049dd
CPU: 386SX+NPU (2308)
Memory: 2MiB (2097152)
DocBrown FW version: 1.6.0

Just out of curiosity I've downloaded (I had already) Cyo's rip of this game, recorded it into a Taiyo Yuden CD-R at 2X Speed, and my FM Towns "model2" Generation 1, with 6MB of RAM, booted straight into the game, several times. Tried resetting, tried from power off, tried leaving the computer on, let it scan the devices, then closing the CD door, and in all occasions, it booted straight off the CD.
Just thought of letting you know, and add to the list.
Cheers

Can't find it anywhere, where you got this rip? Please share.

There is now a fix for this. See below from CaptainYS, author of the Tsugaru emulator.
Kyukyoku Tiger fails to get past beyond Towns OS V1.1 logo screen if CMOS RAM was corrupted or clear due
to exhausted back-up battery. If you changed the back-up battery and started anything else, most likely
the CMOS RAM is set up by OAK?.SYS, and Kyukyoku Tiger will start with no issue. To test, you need to
remove back-up battery and clear CMOS RAM then try to start Kyukyoku Tiger.
Also another interesting test is, boot into Marty's boot menu, which is actually on Towns OS in the ROM.
It may initialize CMOS RAM, then allow starting Kyukyoku Tiger.
If you want to patch Kyukyoku Tiger, the problem is in the foolowing part.

into:

Or you can find a binary pattern:
72 11 b4 4d cd 21 0a c0 74 03 e9 30 02
and replace with:
72 11 b4 4d cd 21 0a c0 EB 03 e9 30 02
Probably this replacement will by-pass the T_OAK2.EXE check.
In my disc image, the pattern was at offset 0x60AC3.

I tested the CCD/IMG/SUB using DocBrown on one of my Marty consoles that failed cold boots, and it now works.
