Title: SCSI2SD externally connected to X68000?
Post by: leonk on October 25, 2017, 05:48:14 AM
Anyone tried to use the external port on an X68000 to connect a SCSI2SD adapter?  This seems to have a nice 3D printed box that will be helpful.
And will it even work using the SASI systems? Or is the external port SCSI??

it should be the same internal or external.

My X68000 has a SCSI2SD adapter connected externally. Works just fine.

Were told that if I want to move it internally again I might have to remove some blue resistor array on the inside. I have never had it inside the case yet, so don't know if they matter or not.

if connecting externally to a SASI system, does one still have to load that special SASI/SCSI driver into sram to make the sd2scsi bootable?

Yes.

No idea about SASI; but indeed it works flawlessly as an external unit (I'm using it with a Compact that has true SCSI), the only drawback is the image management in itself, specially if you try to partition more than 1GB with GoverHD. The PC tools seems very unreliable to work with the all the partitions equally  :(
