Title: GameBoy Video out
Post by: fixxxer575 on May 12, 2004, 08:25:58 AM
I have an old gameboy (the huge kind, not pocket) and I was wondering if it's possible to soder on a video out port to the curcuit board.  Ethier for a monitor, s-video, normal rca video, or cowaxil.  Does any one know if this is possible?

I've always wondered how the old display models did it.

No, the system doesn't output any sort of video signal, just like the Game Boys after it, and the Game Gear, and just about any other portable system (save the Turbo Express.) Get a Super Game Boy or a GC Game Boy Player; they work well. :D

If you want TV out you will need to get a GBA and one of the TV adaptor addons.

I got the GBA Transvertor as it's not as bulky as some of the other makes so only adds around 1cm to the back of the GBA. It is also easy to modify it to output RGB (it has a PSOne style connector so you can use a normal PSone scart lead). It has a few different zoom modes, it can zoom to full screen (it scales to the whole screen so will be cropped slightly if your tv overscans).
