Title: XM6g setting question
Post by: craiganderson on October 25, 2014, 05:12:53 AM

Should any of these be clicked (IN GENERAL) to make the emulator "run better"?

thanks

None of those settings have any effect the general performance of the emulator, but here's what they do anyway.

64KB SRAM: This is more for "completeness" of emulating an X68030 model, as they have 64KB of battery backed up memory over the 16KB of the other X68k models.

7.5MHz SSC clock: This replicates a hardware mod of witch involves changing the crystal of the serial controller chip. witch enables near MIDI data speeds and faster file transfer if your doing file transfer to the X68k via the serial port etc.

Blue LED: This changes the green POWER status box in the main window to blue.. Oooow... Shiny! (why the hell anyone does this to the real hardware is beyond me.. it's bad enough with the amount of hyper blue LEDs in modern gizmo's already)

2DD/2HD: Does something with the emulated floppy drives.. dual sided drives maybe? I'm not sure though..

this may be a stupid question,
but

is there any way to mod the emulator so that it has more drives?

such that all 4 floppies of a game can be loaded at once??

thanks

But here's the interesting thing..  if you have a look at the status window for the emulated floppy disk controller in XM6g, it lists 4 drives. so it may have preliminary or completed code in it already to be able to support 4 floppy drives at once. but you only have 2 menus and status boxes for 2 drives in the gui etc.
