Title: issue with genesis controller port
Post by: laggerific on October 12, 2014, 07:11:09 PM
I just completed a stereo and svideo mod with my model 1 genesis, and I discovered that the upper right pin in controller port one appears to be bent beyond repair.

For some reason , the new 6button controller doesnt have issues, but my 3 button controllers are acting wierd.  I have a spare genesis for parts and was thinking about swapping controller port.  Are there any instructions for that?  Or is it just a matter of unsoldering the contacts, unscrewing the port and swapping?  I guess I can take apart my spare, but I'd still prefer some info before doing that.

Not really a mod, but this seemed the most relevant section.

Thanks for any thoughts on this.

Well, deconstructing my spare board, it definitely looked simple enough to replace it.  Everything went smoothly, though the replacement port doesn't look as nice as the original...and the internal wires were bulkier than the original...but everything managed to fit, and now all my controllers appear to be working as expected...and that is the key.
