Title: Converting Gotek floppy drive emulator to X68000 compatible
Post by: eidis on September 26, 2014, 05:21:46 PM
 Hi Guys !

Time to propose another very ambitious project. Some time ago I discovered that one very talented man has successfully converted the Gotek floppy drive emulator to Amiga floppy drive emulator. This is revolutionary because the Gotek emulator costs only $33 (this includes shipping) compared to its rival, the HxC, which costs €99.

The schematics and firmware are available for both devices.

USB HxC Floppy Emulator

Would it be possible to make the Gotek emulator compatible with the X68000 ?

Keep the scene alive !

No : while the firmware could be easily modified, the pcb still ground extra x68k FDD signals. Plus, the pcb does not provides spare IO pins on the MCU for an easy hack.

Right.I also know these chinese devices are really bad, they don't give a true FDD emulation so nothing to compare to HxC emulator.
If I find time , I will post here how I have adapted an HxC SD floppy emulator into my CompactXVI.Stay tuned.
