Title: Getting +5v from X68000 ports
Post by: Segasonicfan on July 20, 2014, 02:23:08 PM
So I have an X68000 PRO HD and I want to use a sync combiner box I built to make C Sync.  This goes in-line between VGA out and the monitor.  But I need the +5v on my VGA pinout which the Ys signal does not seem to produce on my system.  Is there somewhere else I can grab it externally without having to modify the insides?  I was looking over pinouts but didn't see much on the Floppy DIN, though I maybe one of those signals is logic high.  Anyway, it would be nice to have.  Anyone else look for this?

Check pin 7 on the video connector.

 Hi Segasonicfan !

Rear joystick port is another possibility.

X68k + MSX Joystick Pinout

yeah, I did nothing comes out there :/

Joystick port is a great idea!  Ill run a long cable from there.  Mine isn't in the rear though, cause its the PRO HD!!! heheh

worked like a charm.  Now I'm using my 15khz monitor using this circuit: http://www.epanorama.net/circuits/vga2rgbs.gif (http://www.epanorama.net/circuits/vga2rgbs.gif)

Thanks for the diagram! It's really useful, but i have a question about interpreting the resistor values. What does the author of the diagram mean by 1K8 or 2K2?

 Hi Famiac !

1K8 = 1800 ohm
2K2 = 2200 ohm

Don't forget you need an RGB 15khz monitor for this too, this circuit just combines the sync, it will not make a VGA monitor work for this (despite the misleading text).
