Title: Atari 2600 - SMS to Lpt
Post by: Youltar on September 30, 2003, 12:25:51 PM
Hello, Since this site seems to be the most informative I have yet found. I will ask my question here. I have found around 3 differnt ways to connect a Atari 2600/SMS digital pad to a PC via the printer port. I am very intrested in writing my own set of drivers for one of these interfaces as I do not want drivers that have all the extra stuff in it ..nes, snes, psx, tgfx...so on and so on. I am definitly not a programming guru by any means, but yet have dabbeld in C++ alot, Is there any sample code or some place I could start with for this little project?? any help is greatly appreciated.

Having extra code that you're not using isn't going to affect your performance or make any kind of measurable impact on a modern machine.  Reinventing the wheel may sound like fun, but driver-level programming isn't for the faint of heart.  That said I can't help you, but maybe someone else can.
