Hi all,

I'm a newbie on this forum (very interesting forum).

I'm looking for a x68000 compact model ( with 3"1/2 floppy drive).

I don't know where i can find this computer so i m trying my chance here.

Thank for the help that you can bring me in my search.

Compacts occasionally pop up here and there on eBay or Yahoo! Japan Auctions (http://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/) (from which you can bid on items internationally using a middleman service like Buyee or Shopping Mall Japan). I'm not sure if anyone here has one up for grabs.

The only thing I can recommend is a bit of patience, since pretty much everyone wants an XVI Compact, and they're kinda in short supply most of the time. But it's absolutely not a rare occurrence that one becomes available, so if you hold out, you'll eventually find one.

Dont hedge your bet on ebay, go directly to the source, yahoo.co.jp auctions. They show up about 50 times more often there and sell for less.

Only trouble is these models have known capacitor issues and you have to change the capacitors once you get your hands on one. So if you see a fully refreshed one show up be willing to pay a bit more for one and avoid future hassle.

Yes but i'm afraid about shipping cost from Japan ? :-\ Very expensive...

Do you know a good "middleman service" for Yahoo auction ?

I got about 10 of these units overhere with keyboard and mouse... all working ok, except for the sound,

They wont be working fine for long. Get those caps changed, the sooner the better.
