Title: The hunt for disp15.x
Post by: kamiboy on June 04, 2013, 12:12:15 AM
SuperDeadite brought to my attention a seemingly magical program called disp15.x which is supposed to force 31khz software to display in 15khz on the X68000.

http://www.cityfujisawa.ne.jp/~fumiki/x68k/koba/68disptv/68disp.html (http://www.cityfujisawa.ne.jp/~fumiki/x68k/koba/68disptv/68disp.html)

I am not sure whether the program works just for the Human68K text based software or if it extends it influence to games as well, and if so how flawlessly.

I would just download it and give it a try but trouble is the file seems to have gone completely extinct on the internet.

So this is where I would humbly ask members to tap into their extensive X68000 resource network and see whether they cannot dig up a copy.

It really would be a life saver if it works as I hope it will. I am hopelessly addicted to 15khz scanlines when it comes to fixed pixel graphics.

Is this not the download for it?

Try clicking the link, it is dead. Searching for the file name, zipped or not brings up no alternative download locations on the internet.

Here is : http://nfggames.com/X68000/Uploads/disp15v2.lzh (http://nfggames.com/X68000/Uploads/disp15v2.lzh)

Not tested.
I think it's ok for basic human68k applications, but again, not all games will accept this.

Thanks Lydux, I knew there was a good chance one of you guys had a local copy of this thing around.

Understanding now better how games do rastering I too have my doubts about this utility working, but it is worth a shot. I'll give a full report once I get home.

While were requesting stuff, anyone have ZCDC.X?   Not CDC.X which is easily gotten off that one Japanese site, I need ZCDC.X   which is a custom driver to link ZMUSIC and CDC.X.

Don't know if it's what you're looking for, but there is this one not far :

An update, gents. Running disp15.x seems to work for Human68K, it switches the command prompt to run in 480i. Unfortunately the usefulness does not extend to games it seems. I tried running Akimajou, which got me a garbled screen, and Gradius 2 which got me a black screen. Niether would have looked good in 480i anyway.

I suppose it is a useful for running Human68K on a TV, but that is about it.

There is no way around this one, I need to buy me a 31khz to 15khz 240p downconverter.

Thank you!   According to the readme doc, this is what I want.  Can't wait to try this later. :)

Talking always about obscure X68000 software,  does someome have the chance to try this attached  driver called FDDINT.X, it should be emulate th FDD INT and DISK IN signals when using thirdy-part FDDs.

Wait, wait..from what  I understand this patch would  interface a  CD player with the  X68000 ZMUSIC driver allowing music syncronization in a certain game?

CDC is a music cd player for Human68K.   ZCDC driver allows ZMUSIC to control CDC.  ZCDC compatible ZMD files are basically just CD time stamps.  So "playing" each ZMD file just tells the CD-ROM drive to skip to an exact time.
