Post by: pmack on April 24, 2013, 12:28:54 AM
I am selling my XVI compact:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/321112409306?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1586.l2649 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/321112409306?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1586.l2649)

Good chance to get a X68k from a US seller

Have the capacitors been changed in that unit yet?

When I got this machine from a Japanese seller he said that he did change all capacitors. However, the problem with the volume being low might mean he missed some. Since the machine is still working fine I am not going to open it to verify... so all I can say is that it has worked great for the last 3 years (the issue with the volume was there from the start when I got the machine)

Probably just some leftover cap fluid under an amp chip or maybe a weak / corroded trace.  Good luck with the sale!  I know compacts are usually in pretty high demand.

Wow $660.  I've been selling compacts to friends for $500 with keyboard/mice/controller adapter/video adapter/usb floppy drive, ram upgrade, and full recaps of mainboard and psu and sram battery replacement...  Guess I'm too cheap hehe
