Title: N64 Passport Plus video output on PAL
Post by: nomoremod on December 02, 2012, 08:31:58 PM
I'm about to buy a Passport III Plus for my N64 and wondering how would NTSC 60Hz games look like on my PAL console.
I have some assumption:

a. framerate and speed unaltered without borders
b. framerate drops, speed unaltered with borders
c. both framerate and speed affected without borders
d. both framerate and speed affected with borders

does anyone have tested it?

Will depend on game, but if the code includes spoofing the region byte in RAM to match the game, you should get it "perfect"... apparently there's some difference in some timings between the NTSC and PAL consoles that MIGHT affect SOME games, causing stuff like small desynchronizations between music and animation in certain intros (like, music plays slighty faster than it should and ends early for maybe half a second) but the only reference I have of someone noticing this actually happening is from a homebrew program, so I don't really know. I know I havent noticed anything serious

IF the game ignores region byte or you can spoof it, then there should probably be no difference a human can notice.
