I picked up a SCSI compact flash card reader that apparently some Mac or Amiga users use to use CF cards as hard drives on their systems. I figured it was worth a shot on the 68000 since its about half the cost of other CF setups.
I set the card reader to SCSI ID0 and termination ON. There are no other jumpers on the unit. I installed the CF card into the PCMCIA slot via an adapter. I am using an original SCSI hard drive cable that was installed in my XVI HD system. It must be good since it works with the original 80mb drive that was installed in the computer.
When I boot the system, it does not load from the CF card and I have to boot from a floppy drive. Switch is set to boot STD.
Next I tried to reformat the drive to see if I couldnt just make a bootable system drive out of it. I can create and delete partitions no problem, but when I select option 4 "initialize" in the format menu I get an error message: 物理フォーマット出米ませんでした。 何かキーを押してください。 which translates to something like "It was not U.S. physical format. Please press any key."
Anyone have any ideas?
Hard drive is recognized in Format.x

Partitions from SuperDeadite's image are there too!

I can delete and recreate partitions and it seems to do something since the CF card reader will flash while doing this...

But if I select option 4 "initialize" from the main format menu, I get this:

Weird that it lets you create/delete partitions, but won't initialize. Really weird as I had the exact opposite issue. Originally I just wanted to take the V3 image and add a 2nd partition to add more space, but the system wouldn't let me change squat without a full initialization. Hence I ended up setting up my partitions fresh and then had to export/import from the V3 in Disk Explorer (which creates some problems sadly).
Edit: Is this what you are using? http://a4000t.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=180 (http://a4000t.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=180) It says these require parity. So you most likely need a parity generator circuit as well
Build your own parity generator: http://atari.nvg.org/parity/parity_gen.html (http://atari.nvg.org/parity/parity_gen.html)
BlueBMW,
Set BOOT parameter with switch.x to SCSI0 and it should boot from CF card.
Try using scsiformat.x from Master Disk to initialize hard drive and create partitions. You might need to remove the SASI drivers from config.sys in order for it to boot properly.

P.S. Do not install bootloader to SRAM. It is only required for SASI machines.
Best of luck !

I'll give that a shot and see what happens!
