Title: Need help - replacement zener diode
Post by: albino_vulpix on June 14, 2012, 09:41:54 PM
Hi all

I was given a PS1 a little while ago without a power supply. I recently bought a universal one and confirmed the console worked. Great! Between then and the second time I go to play it I use the power supply for something else, and absent-mindedly put the power pin back on. I had a 50/50 shot of playing some more Time Crisis...

Oops...
Some research reveals that that black smoosh used to be a MA8120-TX 12v zener diode. I never understood zener diodes. Would I be OK to walk into Jaycar and grab any 12v zener diode, or are there other important properties I need to pay attention to?
