So i just picked up a Marty system [after hunting for far too long]
Of course, the floppy drive is busted. It seems to be the drive belt [as it's turned into goo and is in several pieces]
I find a rubber band [how tight should it be?] and it SEEMS to be functioning. However when I go into the system settings to create a user disk which I assume is the green floppy icon, I get this error message:

Anyone know what this means? I'm disturbed because that's the same message I got when the drive belt was no good.
Sidenote: I am using a brand new floppy that I formatted to 720k...is there any other requirements I might be missing?
Also, I am doing all of this attempting to load Metal Eye 2, which is giving me this error:
which I can only assume means it needs a user disk?
any help is greatly appreciated. I am a total Marty noob.
The first error says that there is no disk set (ie: no disk detected). In my experience using elastics for floppies is easy and reliable, they should be taut but not stretched very far.
Your problems may be deeper than that.
