Title: optimal settings for pc engine (rgb mod) via xrgb or do i need a rgb amp mod?
Post by: imparanoic on November 08, 2010, 04:33:22 PM
hi.

can anyone tell me the optimal settings for pc engine (rgb mod) as i am getting slight dark pics, colours are slightly too vivid or do i need a rgb amp mod as well as using the xrgb?

I can get the colours right, but slight problem with contast or if i set really high contast, the light colours seems to bleed on to the darks,

Hey IMP,

1. What RGB mod config are you using?

2. Do you use CSYNC or CBVS for sync output?

3. Which XRGB are you using?

4. Which XRGB input are you using (XRGB-3 specific question)?

5. What display(s) are you using (e.g. CRT/flatpanel)?

hi

1) not sure, modded by hk game doctor (persumed to be commerical modder for asian market), i believe according his comments, directly from the chip

2) not sure again

3) currently xrgb2 plus, (tried xrgb1 and xrgb2 before but an budget tv even worse wavy lines distortion) apart from slight contrast/colour bleed on highest contrast mode/highest gamma mode, it's fine for snes with official rgb cable or ps 1 with scph1050

4) rgb, sorry, don't have xrgb3

5) sony lcd klv-40ex400 - bravia 3

Why haven't you opened it up yet to see what was done?

unfortunately, i am not a techie, though i have not opened after modification on my pc engine duo, It seems to be ok apart this irriating issue.

it seems that the hk based engineer who does this was ok ( i tried to a UK tv repair man to do it, he could not do it and london based classic console stores, ie raven was expensive) considering he modded rgb  with 8 pin din socket, spare ps converted 8 pin din to j rgb cable and blue led mod for only HK$400/US$52

when i have the time, i will do this confirm to everyone.

You don't need to be a techie to open it up and take a few pictures.  It should be obvious to anyone whether the RGB mod used only wires or if it has additional components added.

I look forward to your research.  =)
