Title: How to solder game gear LCD back to motherboard?
Post by: Happy Buddha on January 29, 2010, 10:13:53 PM
Hi guys,
Any tip to fix it? I removed the old one using heat gun, but can't get the heat gun to glue the replacement back to the motherboard.
Should I use the regular 40 watt soldering iron instead?
Thanks.

By heat gun, do you mean SMD blower, or something less precise? A rework station would give you the precision and temperature that's correct for reattaching a ribbon cable. Also, as a best practice you should apply fresh solder to the board so that you have something new to melt.
