Now I get full FM sound in SMS games, and I think I can use it while in MD mode also, I need to experiment a little.

I think the YM2413 is supposed to be driven with 3.579545mhz... :)
Is that 4.5mhz crystal the Z80 turbo clock instead ?

the 4.5MHz is for Z80 overclock, YM gets its clock from the Z80 clock output from the ASIC, no out of tuneness that way between FM and PSG :D

The 244 can be replaced with 125, but I did not have one...

I was wondering why there is so much flux everywhere, do you not use resin core solder?

Also, what's the big electrolytic for?

it just seems there's lot of flux, in reality its just a thin layer, but the camera's flash makes it shine back and it looks like there's a lot of it. I have rosin core solder, but additional flux use makes better result... and I have been using additional flux forever.

The big e-cap is to soften the results of 7805 overload (gettings something better and more powerful this or next week) and to filter out lot of VDP generated noises.

Some types of flux may corrode the copper in the long run....

that flux is pine wax + spirit, so no harm will come :)
