Post by: renejr902 on June 10, 2009, 02:46:11 PM
my father will do the svideo mod for my genesis .
i have a few questions

1. i have the model 2. I cant find any complete guide  to do it. where i can find the best guide for model 2.

2. i cannot find any MB3514 or CXA1145 on my genesis motherboard. But i have Ska2195D. father find the datasheet and tell me , its a exact copy of MB3514.  what do you think ? Can i do the svideo mod with this video encoder ?

3.  i try to find great pics for this mod, can you tell me where to find great pics.

sorry for my english thanks for help

KA2195D units notoriously cannot be directly s-video modded. You could build an RGB to s-video converter and get it that way (expensive).

Hmm... this has got me wanting to try to replace a KA2195D with a CXA1645M since the sony is pin compatible in a Genesis 2.  The only thing is that additional components would be required to get composite video output.  However, on my Genesis 2, the circuit traces and solder pads are there, just a matter of adding the chip resistors, caps, and inductors.  Fun...  ;)

Try the Rohm BH7236AF as a replacement. Like the KA2195D, it has the filters and delay line integrated. It also has driver outputs for luma/chroma.
