Title: PCB help
Post by: DuD on March 11, 2009, 12:36:57 AM
I've just taken a chip from a pcb, but having done so it looks as though one of the metal pads (from the board that the chip was soldered to) has come away (theres grey where the gold bit should be).
I have no way of testing if this is true as i don't have access to a multimeter, but was wondering if its possible to scratch a 'new' plate into the pcb somewhere else that i could solder to or if the pcb is buggered.

cheers.

Just replying to my own problem in case anyone else has this issue in future.

I just lightly scratched the surface off with a stanley knife  and it works a treat. It was a bit annoying to solder to but it works and is a strong join. :)

For future reference, if you tear a pad off, there's this magical stuff you can use that's a simple and (usually) effective fix.

Conductive Ink.
