Title: Wiimote Expansion Port Questions
Post by: Blaine on July 15, 2008, 10:31:27 PM
I found a pin-out for the Wiimote and, like many things, it didn't turn out the way I expected. Going in, I imagined it would be similar to a Gamecube controller (minus any rumble). Not the case. Which, as the weakest member in the history of the nfg forums, pretty much kicks my ass.

I was hoping to build a usb encoder that would let me use the Classic Controller (which I think is one of the best new gamepads out there) on a pc.

Has anyone come across some info that could help?

Doesn't the Wiimote use a subset of the Bluetooth protocol for wireless communication the way that the Xbox 360 controller does? I'm certain I've read something about Wiimotes being hacked to provide signal to a PC with the right receiver, so that might be a better way for you to route classic controller input. Just a suggestion.

i think he's after the connection to the bottom of the wiimote controller, not the interface from the wiimote to another device.

in any case, you can already use the wiimote and also a classic controller (i think) on a pc via bluetooth, datel even released a commercial kit called "my mii manager" which comes with a bunch of crap that datel didnt actually make (they did make my mii manager though). i bought it for $10 on special from play-asia, i think theyre now out of stock. google is your friend:)

the program to use is glovepie, but you need to install a third party usb stack and not all usb bluetooth dongles are compatible. look it up, theres plenty of guides.

where is the pinout for the wiimote and how can we just that to build our own pads instead of having to use the GC port? Does anyone know what is on the insides of that Super Famicom controller so I can better  understand what I need to build?
