Title: PSX->USB adapter. Can't get DualShock to work.
Post by: Luke on May 26, 2008, 02:10:40 AM
Hi. I have built my own PSX to USB adapter. It's based on the microcontroller so I communicate with gamepad in software. I used this reference (http://pinouts.ru/Game/playstation_9_pinout.shtml) amongst others.

The problem is following: Cheap digital controller works but Sony DualShock doesn't. My guess is that it's because I didn't connect +7,6V/+9V line which I thought is only used for vibrations. Is this line needed even if I don't use vibrations? Or maybe there are other things that I must be aware of? Anyone has any experience with this kind of thing?

The gamepad is SCHP-1200 series if thats relevant.

Any help would be appreciated.

Dualshock protocol is a bit different. If you are playing a old PS1 game on a real machine and push the analog button in the middle of the controller it will switch to the new protocol and the game stops responding instantly.
