Title: Sonic 3 save doesn't work.
Post by: albino_vulpix on April 25, 2008, 10:54:23 AM
As far as I know, Sonic 3 saves its data on an FeRAM chip callled FM1208S-200CC. Would replacing that IC fix my problem? Also, I tried looking for one online but most sellers want a minimum order of 500ish. Is there an equivalent IC I can use instead. Unfortunately I don't have a datasheet.

I think software wise it works exactly like a normal battery backed SRAM cart. So maybe you could mod it to use sram instead...

That would be ideal, since replacing a battery every few years is heaps easier than tracking down an IC. If only I had the know-how to do this.

The chips SHOULD be pin compatible... but most likely having different package...

you know I had the same problem.  But I just bought another sonic 3 cart for 5$ which is cheaper than buying a new chip to save
