Title: Atari Jaguar composite video problems
Post by: rockman87 on April 06, 2008, 01:55:06 PM
I am attempting to create a composite video adapter for my Atari Jaguar following the pinout described at http://www.gamesx.com/avpinouts/jagav.htm and http://www.faqs.org/faqs/games/video-games/atari/jaguar/.

I was able to get the audio working fine, but the video wouldn't work.  I used a multi-meter to test my connections and everything looks correct.  I tried 2 different TVs (CRT and LCD).  The CRT TV flickered when I turned the Jaguar on, so I was thinking that it was getting a signal but couldn't sync to it.

So with that thought, I combined the composite sync and the composite video output from the Jaguar and now it shows up as a black and white image.

Has anyone else had this problem with the Jaguar?  Could it just be a bad connection somewhere (although I've rechecked it 10 times).  My next thought was to add the Chroma signal to my composite output and see what that gives me.

Any advise is appreciated.

I added the chroma signal to my composite output, which added color to the picture, but the colors are all off (Jaguar logo was green).  Next, I tried using chroma + luminance + comp sync which gave me the same results (wrong colors).

Never mind, I think the problem is with the edge card connector that I'm using.  I tapped straight into the composite video trace on the board and the picture came up.
