Title: n64 joystick

im experimenting with replacing the common n64 analog stick with one from a ps2 controller or xbox controller with no luck. the original joystick was way too loose.
any help would be appreciated

I also tried it, but it is not very easy.
The XBOX, PS2 and Gamecube controller use a potentiometer (variabel resistor)in the stick and the N64 uses a optical system with a small mechanism.
This two systems are not compatible, but some 3rd party joypads from the N64 also uses potentiometers. Perhaps you can use them.
