Title: Scart to Component adaptor
Post by: thermodan on January 06, 2007, 06:33:28 PM
Anyone know if this device is any good ?

Specifically: is RGB quality video maintained via the YUV ?

Seems like it could be handy if your tv has no scart cable, but you want RGB on your games............

From what I've heard they work OK - the signal isn't noticably degraded in the  RGB > YUV conversion. This particular model (it's the cheapest/most common one) lacks any audio output so it's not useful without modification.

If you want audio without resorting to hackery, get a SCART splitter.  Run one of the outputs into the transcoder.  Run the other output through an adapter like this (http://cgi.ebay.com/Euro-TV-SCART-to-RCA-Phono-SVHS-S-Video-Converter_W0QQitemZ290060372469QQcmdZViewItem).

On a side note, I haven't been able to post here in a long time and I just figured out why.  I would always get an error page every time I tried to post.  I just disabled my software firewall and was able to post.  It's kind of weird because I've never had this problem anywhere else.  I'm just glad I finally figured it out.  :)
