Title: PCI Video capture cards?

Hey there. I was wondering what everybody uses for video capture (I hope to take some screenshots that way). Hopefully I'd get something that can do different resolutions, but simple S-Video + RCA should be fine.

google. this is the best software http://deinterlace.sourceforge.net/ (http://deinterlace.sourceforge.net/). get something that works well with that.

Yeah, I'm definitely not surprised there. I guess it's just a matter of finding the right card. Well, thank you for the references. I'll update this when I have something.

Edit: The search was quicker than I had dared to hope. I think I'll go with a Canopus ADVC 300.

Mainly, any card with a BT878 decoder will be fine for what you want..  I got two cards that use a BT878, and they are perfect...

Well, actually I'll need the ability to capture video from old tapes as well. Maybe I won't need it due to DScaler, though.

Once again, any capture card equiped with a BT878 will be perfect for it..  BT878's handle well with VHS tapes via composite..

AverMedia TV Studio, while a whole package, is perfect for composite stuff..  thoguh, it's S-video aint the greatest (they didn't ground the bt878 right for the s-video), but it's composite input is great..  don't know if they still sell it...

Alright, I'll take a look around. I don't think I'll buy that particular model as S-Vid is a must, but surely one of the other many cards out there will support it correctly.

The WinTV series is a good BT878 based card..  has Seperate-Video, and Composite, both with good picture quality...

Though not free, I personally find the best program for recording videos, is intervideo WinDVR..  the wintv app, if still the same, honestly sucks..

Avoid the Iomega Buz.  While the image quality is quite good the software support is poor.  It took me a lot of tweaking to get my card to work at all and even after all that it only really works with the supplied (crappy) software.  This may also apply to any other cards using the same Philips/Zoran chipset.  I have a different card with the same chipset on it that also only works with the supplied software.
