Hi I have a model 2 saturn with the round buttons and I want to add a cd access led to the system. I tried to follow the instructions from this site, but mine does not have the seperate controller board or the empty slot to solder the led in.

Is there any other way to make this work or can I find the traces elsewhere on the MB?
Also can I harm the system if i used a 5v led insteas of a 3v one?

I've heard of ways to tap the CD access light from the CD ROM board itself, but I've never really looked into it...

As for using a 5V LED, you'll probably find it won't light up, or will be very dim. Go buy a 3.3V LED, it'll cost you a nickel.
