Title: Which should i use as a dvd player?
Post by: geodeath on May 14, 2006, 04:47:33 AM
Hello all,
As i have a panasonic Q, an xbox and an xbox360, i was wondering which of them would be better for dvd playback on my hdtv philips 26" lcd tv. I already know that the xbox360 is not the best solution for an hdtv for dvds, cause it doesnt play them in high resolution (i remember reading something about it being low res). I already know that a lot of people critisize the Q for not that good dvd playback.

Well, should i go buy a cheap but hdmi/RGB enabled dvd player or wait for a cheap hd-dvd? Or one of these consoles fit the bill? :)

Could someone let me know the technical side of this story?

I forgot to say that i have rgb cables for both the xbox and the panasonic Q, and an rgb scart and hd av cables for the 360.

well if its an lcd whats its native res? the xbox outputs 480i for dvd's. if you wanna mod it you can get 480p-1080i.the 360 only puts out 480p. i dont know anything about the q. ruinning things at it's native res is important if you want the best pic quality for an lcd.

i use my xbox 360.
i plays movies at 480p and it plays pal movies. a lot of players i have will give some warning about the pal movie and not play them.
the 360 seems to play any media i put in it with no problem dvd-r, dvd+r, dl dvd+r,
dvd-rw, ect
360 will have a usb HD dvd player soon.

my second player is my xbox 1.
if you have a hacked xbox with xbox media center or patched dongle free player the movies will play at 480p. plus you can play almost every form of media on the xbox 1 with xbox media center.
