Title: Custom Video Output
Post by: Guest_chris on March 07, 2006, 03:48:59 AM
Hey, i am wondering how this, (http://www.gamesx.com/misctech/mypin.htm)  interacts with the monitor. seeing as its a 9 pin and my monitor at least is a 15 pin.

Any ideas.

Thanks Chris

Chris, the nine-pin connector you're referencing is a custom pinout. It assumes that you're going to be building your own connector between a monitor and your game console. It's not a published or enforced standard in any piece of hardware.

The 15-pin connector you're referring to is probably a standard VGA connector, and most game consoles won't be interoperable with it unless it supports 15 khz synchronization rates. I'd like to suggest that you read the RGB primer at the GamesX home page to better understand the purpose of the first pinout.
