Title: SEGA Genesis main board component EM23
Post by: oldtimer on February 26, 2006, 02:11:21 PM
Control port 2 on my SEGA GENESIS is not working.  No voltage to pins 2 and 3.  The components EM23 AND EM24 on the main board (IC BD M5 USA) are both blown.  They look like they might be a transistor but I'm not sure.  The number on the components are CM222 100V.  Can anybody tell me what these components are and what an available replacement number might be.

Thank you for any help.

An image would help, for those of us not lucky enough to have a Genesis handy.

I think they're just some kind of spike/static suppression filter things. If it's blown then just replace it with a wire link.

If a protection filter died, one has to question why. Removing them from the path without knowing why they failed could lead to more serious failure!
